What is Breathing?

Breathing is the most essential action required to live.

The process of taking air inside our body and throwing it out is called breathing. The taking in of air is called inhalation and throwing it out is called exhalation.

One inhalation and one exhalation form One breathing cycle. This process facilitates exchanges of gases in our body. The blood takes oxygen as it’s the fuel that is required to all our living processes. Carbon dioxide is the by-product of all bodily processes hence it is dumped out of the body with each breath.

Breathing happens through an elaborate system consisting of various organs in our body. This is called the respiratory system.
